2023 NYG: Reciprocate Governor AbdulRazaq's Sports Investment, Hon Shittu Tells Kwara Athletes

 


The Chairman of the 10th Kwara State House of Assembly Committee on Sports, Honourable Rukayat Shittu has encouraged one hundred and thirty two Kwara athletes to the 7th National Youth Games to reciprocate Governor AbdulRazaq's huge investment to sports development with podium finish performance.


Honourable Rukayat Shittu gave the charge on Tuesday while bidding the state's contingents farewell to Asaba National youth games at the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin .  


Shittu who reaffirmed the determination of the present administration to sports development through improved facilities and handsome renumeration for its athletes and officials, noted that the state will not relent in its unwavering support for sports development in all ramifications.


The lawmaker urged athletes and officials to be good ambassadors of the state and exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship throughout the competition, asking them to shun any act capable of jeopardizing their future ambition.


Also speaking, another lawmaker, Hon Musa AbdulKareem Mohammed challenged the state's  athletes to represent the state and surpass the precious records of the championship to justify government's unprecedented support.


The 7th National Youth Games, Asaba 2023, will commence on Wednesday with the arrival of contingents across the country while the main event starts on Thursday. Kwara placed 7th in the 2021 edition which held in Ilorin, the state Kwara State Capital

Emir of Ilorin to Turban Mohammed Baba Iliyas as Daudu Egbejila July 25 Preparations are in top gear for the grand turbaning ceremony of Alhaji Mualim Mohammed Baba Iliyas as the 3rd Daudu Egbejila Wara Osin in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State. The ceremony will be performed by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, on Friday, 25th July 2025, at the Emir’s Palace, Ilorin, starting at 9:00 AM.
