NYG 2023: Bayelsa Not In Asaba Strictly For Medal Haul-- Igali

 



President, wresting Federation of Nigeria, Hon Daniel Igali, says the Balyelsa State Contingent at the ongoing 7th National


Youth Games, NYG, in Asaba is not mainly to win medals for the state, but to haunt for more talented athletes that will replace for aging ones in the international championship. 


Hon Daniel Igali who is also the Balyesa state Commissioner for Sports, revealed that mounting pressure on officials and athletes to win by all cost may lead to doping and other ills in sports .


Igali charged state Governors across the Country to genuinely invest in sports programs and policies  to further stem the ugly trend of social vices in the country.


He expressed dismay over non budget provision for wresting Federation, despite positive impression in the World major competitions, believing that appropriate budgeting for Federations will enhance their performance.
