2026 FIFA WCQ: We are approaching each game with all seriousness- Awoniyi

 


Super Eagles forward, Taiwo Awoniyi has expressed the readiness of the super eagles to approach Nigeria vs Lesotho World Cup qualifying  match with all seriousness as they cannot afford to miss out in the biggest global football fiesta.


Nigeria is billed to take on crocodiles of Lesotho in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium Uyo this Thursday by 5pm.


Awoniyi who scored for Nottingham last weekend upon returning to action after some weeks layoff due to injury is expected to lead the attack for Nigeria in Thursday's World Cup group qualification's opener . 


Awoniyi after Wednesday's closed training session told some journalists that the spirit in the camp is high and the players are battle ready for the game with renewed hope and determination.



"Nigerians should continue to believe in us, supporting us will motivate us to deliver,  we will also reciprocate their unwavering support with a deserve  victory"

The ceremony will be performed by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, on Friday, 25th July 2025, at the Emir’s Palace, Ilorin, starting at 9:00 AM.
