Wheelchair Basketball Federation Expresses Fulfilments As National Technical Workshop Ends in Ilorin

 





The President of the wheelchair basketball federation of Nigeria, Mr Seyi Johnson has expressed fulfilments for a successful and hitch free 2024 national workshop for its technical officials ahead of the maiden wheel chair betking basketball league.



Mr Johnson who expressed satisfaction with the attitude of the participants at a two day workshop, noted the federation will not relent in organizing more beneficial programs and clinics for its officials to further expose them to the rules of the game in order to perform effectively .



He reiterated the commitment of the federation to debut wheel chair basketball league in Africa which will be in three phases Savannah and Atlantic conferences as well as the qualifiers and it will be played in the space of seven weeks.



"Betking wheelchair basketball league is a national League for all the states, it might be state or club representatives, it will be in three phases and run in the space of seven weeks"


Savannah Conference will house north central teams, Atlantic conferences will host south south, south east and west while two teams from each zones will play qualifiers in Abuja he added.



The President also commended the Kwara State government through sports commission for its investment towards sports development, stating that the federation will organize a wheelchair basketball program upon completion of upgrade of indoor sports hall recently approved by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.


Earlier, the executive Chairman of the Kwara Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Magaji decried poor funding of the sports federations, stating that for federations to perform efficiently, there is the need for the federal ministry of sports development to reinstate subvention just as being done in the past to enhance their service delivery 


The event also featured presentation of certificate to all the participants from across the federation
