Overall Winner Gets 100k Star Prize Money As Edun Development Association's 2024 Quran Competition Ends

 


Edun Development Association (EDA) Annual Ramadan Quran Recitation contest has been concluded with a charge to participants never to allow the intrinsic knowledge and meaning therein elude them.


The contest which began on the twenty-first day of Ramadan was brought to an end on the first day of Shawwal which is Eid-l Fitr day with at least sixteen of the one hundred participants emerging outstanding young memorizers of Al-Quran Kareem.


In a bid to enhance the quest for acquisition of Islamic knowledge, a sociocultural group, Edun Development Association (EDA) has continually host Quran Recitation contest with a view to sharpening the skills and understanding of young  Muslims.


This latest edition commemorating the end of Ramadan for year 1445A.H, featured at least a total of one hundred participants who took part in the memorization of Quran from one to six Hisbu.


The participants were examined based on their understanding of tejwid, qirah and fiqhu among others.


In his lecture, an Islamic cleric and Mudir Markaz Adhikrah, Uztadh Ahmad Idris-Ajia urged the participants to assimilate the message and imbibe the teachings contained in the glorious Qur'an.


He praised the foresight of the organisers, the Edun Development Association and implored them to consider establishment of school and business ventures.


The President of Edun Development Association (EDA), Ayodeji Ismail in his remarks said the Quran recitation contest is geared to sustain the cherished Islamic culture for which Ilorin is known for.


He said the contest would not have become a tradition associated with the people of Edun area without continuous support from Alhaji Abdulquadir Tunji-Nagode and other donors bankrolling the programmes of the association.


The main financier of the contest and chairman of the occasion, AbdulQuadir Tunji-Nagode who was represented by Engr Bolakale Aiyegun assured of his commitment to ensuring continuity of the programme.

Some of the participants and young reciters while speaking to newsmen commended the organisers for given them opportunities to display their talents.

The overall winner went home with the star prize of 100 hundred thousand naira in each category while other winners got 50 thousand naira,  30 thousand naira, 20 thousand and 10 thousand respectively
