The Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike has called on Government at all levels to hands off the sponsorship of football clubs in the country, noting that such support should be channelled towards grassroots football development.

Nigerian Pillar of Sports spoke in Kano through his representative, Nduibis Chidoka at the 2024 full Council and NEC meeting of SWAN .

"Our Governments have no business in running football club in the country, they need to create Conduicive atmosphere for potential investors to key in and channel the resources towards football development from the grassroots"

He stressed that corruption in football administration cannot be surmounted if government at various levels persists in sponsoring football clubs with tax payers money asking them to have a rethink.

Chief Ejike who reiterated his commitment to continue supporting sports in all ramifications, noted the office of the Nigeria pillar of sports is always open for support geared towards sports development.

He saluted the courage of the leadership of SWAN from the National President, state Chairmen and vibrant members whose constructive criticism and suggestions have aided and guided sports ruling authorities in taking viable and lauded decisions.
