Kwara United targets third place finish against Akwa in the Douye Diri preseason tournament
Kwara United is set to face Akwa United on Sunday at 2:00 pm in the third-place match of the Douye Diri Preseason Football tournament at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The Harmony Boys were held to a goalless draw in their last group game against Insurance of Benin on Friday. However, their performance was not sufficient to secure a spot in the final of the prestigious tournament.
Coach Dogo, in his remarks to the club's media in anticipation of the final match in Yenagoa, expressed confidence in his players' ability to deliver on Sunday. He emphasized that the club's vision of commencing the new NPFL season with heightened determination is being actively pursued.
"As evident from our performance, both our club and Bendel Insurance accrued the same number of points in the competition, indicating progress in our developmental process. The team is both physically and mentally prepared for the upcoming season."
On the other hand, the host team, Bayelsa United, is scheduled to compete against Bendel Insurance of Benin in the final showdown at 4:00 pm, with the eventual winner set to receive a prize of 500k.
This week has been a showcase of soccer artistry, with the tournament significantly aiding all participating teams in refining their preparations for the league.
