In Ilorin, the commitment to peace and unity was vividly demonstrated on Friday at Sheikh Ayara's Compound, Gunniyan, Alore, Ilorin, by two notable Islamic scholars, Mufti Sheikh Suleiman Faruq Onikijipa Rtd Almiskinbillah and Sheikh Abdulkadir Jumu'ah Oba Sholagberu, Maalami Ubandoma. Their actions reflect a high level of maturity and wisdom that emphasizes the essence of peace within the community.

These scholars set a remarkable example by not just preaching peace but also embodying it through their behavior. Their public demonstration of unity and mutual respect at the gathering is seen as a strong statement for conflict resolution and social harmony, qualities deeply valued in Islamic teachings.

The incident highlights how leadership, especially from respected religious figures, can foster peace and harmony within a community. Their collaboration and peaceful interaction have been described as a "maturity of the century," inspiring many to prioritize tranquility and understanding in their lives. This act stands as a testament to Ilorin's longstanding reputation as a center for Islamic learning and peaceful coexistence.

The interaction between Sheikh Suleiman Faruq Onikijipa Almiskinbillah, Mufti of Ilorin, and Sheikh Abdulkadir Jumu'ah Oba Sholagberu Maalami Ubandoma at the wedding ceremony of the daughter of Sheikh Anafi Abdulmumeen Ayara, National missioner of Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria both home and abroad, demonstrates a profound sense of maturity, understanding, and leadership.

Despite divergent views and criticisms from some admirers about who deserved the title of Mufti more, both scholars have shown that their spiritual and traditional roles are not based on rivalry but on unity and peace.

Their public demonstration of respect and friendship during Sheikh Abdulmumeen Anafi Ayara's daughter's wedding, followed by Maalami Ubandoma's visit to the Mufti's family home to rejoice with him on daughter's wedding thanksgiving, silenced any rumors of conflict.

These actions reaffirm their commitment to fostering peace and harmony within the Ilorin Emirate, setting an example for their followers to avoid fueling unnecessary conflicts.

The key lesson from their actions is the importance of unity, particularly among scholars, and the need for followers to resist creating divisions where none exist. Their conduct serves as a reminder of Ilorin's longstanding tradition of embodying peace, which continues to be an example for others.

This episode reflects the maturity and leadership of these scholars, as well as their dedication to maintaining the peaceful coexistence that Ilorin is known for.
