Team Kwara Ends NYG24 in 5th Position
Team Kwara concluded their participation in the 8th National Youth Games (NYG24) in Asaba, Delta State, with an outstanding performance, finishing 5th overall.
In the final medal
table released by the local organizing committee on Thursday, the team secured 33 medals: 14 gold, 7 silver, and 12 bronze, surpassing their 2023 record.
Host state Delta retained the top position for with 111 medals, including 46 gold, 31 silver, and 34 bronze. Team Lagos finished 2nd with 26 gold, 20 silver, and 19 bronze, while Team Edo came in 3rd with 18 gold, 13 silver, and 28 bronze. Team Bayelsa secured the 4th spot, winning 16 gold, 18 silver, and 29 bronze.
To the surprise of many stakeholders, Team Ebonyi State participated in the competition without securing any medals.
Coach Bola Magaji, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara Sports Commission, expressed his gratitude to Almighty Allah for the success achieved, noting that the Commission delivered as promised.
He praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his constant support, emphasizing that all accomplishments were a result of the governor's backing for sports development in Kwara State.
Magaji also commended the officials and athletes for their dedication and hard work, urging the athletes to begin preparations for an even better performance in the next edition of the Games.
