Rising squash sensation and Nigeria’s current No. 2 ranked female player, Isaac Blessing, has once again brought pride to Kwara State at the ongoing Gateway Games 2024—the 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival held in Ogun State.

Blessing, a distinguished alumna of Kwara State University (KWASU), delivered an exceptional performance in the squash events, securing two gold medals (in the team and doubles categories) and a silver medal in the singles event. Her achievements not only underscore her talent and consistency but also reinforce her status as one of the nation’s elite squash athletes.

Speaking after her impressive showing, Blessing expressed gratitude to God for her continued progress and Nigeria’s No. 2 ranking, but made clear her ambition to break into the global squash scene:

> “I thank God for helping me reach the No. 2 position in Nigeria, but my dream is to break into the world rankings. I’m ready to give it everything it takes—mentally, physically, and spiritually. I’m determined and focused.”

She also acknowledged the unwavering support of the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, whose dedication to sports development continues to serve as a source of motivation for athletes across the state:

> “Our Governor has always supported us, and we know he’ll be even happier to receive our medals. He has blessed us before and continues to do so—we’re truly grateful.”
