KWSC Begins Close Camp Ahead of NSF Gateway 2024 as Mogaji Urges Coaches to Apply Targeted Training
The Kwara State Sports Commission (KWSC) has commenced its close camping for athletes preparing for the National Sports Festival (NSF) Gateway 2024, scheduled to take place in Ogun State.
The Executive Chairman of the Commission, Coach Bola Mogaji, while addressing athletes and coaches at the camp opening on Monday evening, emphasized the need for targeted and effective training to ensure peak performance at the festival.
Coach Mogaji stated that athletes aiming to perform at their best should have begun preparations at least five months prior, noting that the current stage of camping must be handled with precision by the coaches. He urged them to apply the right techniques and strategies that would yield results at the festival.
He also charged athletes to strictly adhere to camp rules and remain focused on their preparations. Reassuring the contingent, he disclosed that open camp allowances would be paid by Tuesday morning, while close camp allowances would be disbursed before departure for the festival.
"I was once an athlete, and I understand what it means to be in camp. That is why athlete welfare remains my priority," he said.
Coach Mogaji further disclosed that all athletes will be given march-past outfits, canvas shoes, and competition jerseys, which they will keep after the festival.
Also speaking, the Director of Sports, Mallam Ibrahim Bako, reminded the athletes of the importance of good conduct throughout the camping period. He encouraged them to report any issues through the proper channels and maintain discipline and unity.
A roll call of athletes was conducted sport by sport, signaling the formal start of the camp.
