ZLP Vice Chairman Hails Nigerian Workers, Advocates Improved Welfare on Workers’ Day

The National Vice Chairman (North Central) of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Alhaji Usman Danjuma Tsaragi, has commended Nigerian workers for their resilience, dedication, and vital role in driving the implementation of government policies and programmes aimed at revitalizing the nation's economy.

Alhaji Tsaragi made this known in a statement released in commemoration of the 2025 Workers’ Day celebration.

He noted that while the N70,000 minimum wage is a step forward, it remains inadequate in addressing the harsh economic realities currently facing Nigerian workers.

He emphasized that for the nation's workforce to effectively support policy implementation and national development, their remuneration and welfare must reflect the present economic challenges.

He further urged all tiers of government to improve workers’ conditions, particularly in critical areas such as transportation, housing, and access to other basic necessities, in order to curb the increasing trend of brain drain popularly referred to as the “Japa” syndrome.

“I want to congratulate Nigerian workers on the May Day celebration. Your commitment and dedication deserve more than just praise—they require meaningful improvement in your economic conditions, provision of essential services, and a conducive working environment,” Tsaragi stated.

May 1st is globally recognized as International Workers’ Day, set aside to honor and celebrate the invaluable contributions of workers to national growth and human progress.
