KWASAA Seeks Collaborative Path to Ethical, Sustainable Advertising in Kwara

The Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA) has called for collaboration with the Outdoor advertising stakeholders and practitioners to foster industry growth and improve regulatory standards.

The Ag. General Manager of the Agency, Mr. 'Toba Adeyeye, ARPA, made the call in Ilorin at a stakeholders' meeting held at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Communications on Friday.

The KWASAA boss said the Agency is committed to building a transparent and supportive regulatory environment that encourages innovation while upholding ethical advertising practices.

He described the meeting as a significant step towards strengthening the relationship between practitioners, regulators, and other key players in the sector, reaffirming a shared vision of professionalism and mutual benefit.

Adeyeye added that the Agency is ready to partner with stakeholders to promote sustainable advertising practices that align with the urban development goals of the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration.

“I am seeking your support and collaboration as stakeholders to enhance stronger enforcement mechanisms that will curb illegal practices and return the business to professionals.

As an Agency, we are ready to foster partnerships with practitioners. This will improve the State’s urban appeal, attract more investments, and generate significant revenue from outdoor advertising for the benefit of Kwara State.”

Declaring the meeting open, the Honourable Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Bola Olukoju appealed to stakeholders to give General Manager their full support, stressing that the  State Government expects the new management to prioritise professionalism and fairness in its operations.

“The Agency is expected to enforce compliance, not through force or intimidation, but through fairness, professionalism, and strict adherence to the law,” she said.

Stakeholders at the meeting welcomed the appointment of the new Ag. General Manager, describing it as well-deserved and “a round peg in a round hole.”

Among those in attendance were the former Director General of the Agency, Alh. Hammed Olufadi; Mr. Adedeji Oluwole; Mr. Ademola Segun; and key representatives of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) including Omo Abunene, Nwagwu Churchill, and Adeola Odesanya, serving as Vice President, General Secretary, and Assistant General Secretary respectively.

In their remarks, the stakeholders advised the General Manager to embrace internal reforms, operate an open-door policy, and engage in wide consultations to reposition the Agency and restore trust.

They also encouraged him to thoroughly assess the Agency’s past activities and take steps to improve its structure and credibility.

The meeting drew participants from Ilorin and outside Kwara State, with robust discussions that offered fresh insights and valuable contributions to guide the new management's direction.
