Islamic Scholars Urge Reflection on Death at Nagode’s Fidau Prayer in Ilorin
Family members, friends and associates on Monday gathered in Ilorin to offer prayers for the soul of Alhaji Suleiman Baba Nagode, who died on Saturday after a brief illness at his family house along the Edun/Itakure area of Ilorin.
Leading other Islamic scholars at the Fidau prayer, the Chief Imam Imale, Dr. Sheikh Abdullahi AbdulHameed, urged attendees to always remember death in all their dealings, noting that it can come at any time. He also advised the children of the deceased to continue to remember their father in prayers.
In his lecture, Sheikh Mohammed Nuhu Olohundare eulogised the contributions of the Nagode family to the development of the Edun community.
He recalled the efforts of the late father of the deceased, Alhaji Salihu Nagode, in securing employment opportunities for sons and daughters not only from the Edun community but across the Ilorin Emirate, a legacy he said his children have continued to emulate.
Sheikh Nuhu described death as the ultimate end of every human being, noting that the good deeds of the deceased would remain a lasting legacy for a long time.
Dignitaries from within and outside Ilorin attended the Fidau prayer to pay their last respects to the Nagode family.
Among them were the Dan Iyah of Ilorin, Engr. Kale Kawu Agaka; Wakili Ngeri of Ilorin, Moshood Mustapha; Kuliyan Ngeri of Ilorin, Yusuf Olaolu Ali; Saad Belfore; Kale Belgore; Hon Oladimeji Edun; Faruq Ismail; Pharmacist Kale Ayo; President of Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association, Usman Jagunmon; and Lanre Daibu.
Traditional title holders present at the event included the Balogun Alanamu, Daudu Egbejila, Ajia Ijesha, Alangua Oke Ogun, Magaji Akanni, Magaji Ayipo and Daudu Labala, among others.
