Makamz fc Wins Maiden Mohammed Aluko Football Championship

  Makamz Football Club, Ilorin has emerged Champions of the maiden Mohammed Amin Aluko Football Competition after beating Kelebe football club by a lone goal on Thursday . The Competition was organized by Badari Community Youth Forum Oja-Iya in Partnership with Babbi Bread in memory of Late Mohammed Aluko who died few months ago. The match which was played at ECWA Primary School Oja-Iya, of Taiwo Road, Ilorin saw Makamz team smile home with Ram as star prize and runners up went home with  goat in spirit of Eld Kabir Festival. Speaking at the event, a bossom friend of late Aluko and former GM of Radio Kwara, Alhaji Kayode Aremu commended all the participating teams for demonstrating the spirit of sportsmanship throughout the competition, noting that the tournament was put together by Badari Community Youth Forum to recognize immense contributions of late Aluko towards sports development in the state. C&S donates 100m to Handball Academy ahead of 2023 Partille Cup

SWAN calls for improved security At Kwara State Stadium

Sympathises shop owners over the sad incident.  Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Kwara State Chapter has expressed dismay over the security laxity in the surrounding of the state's stadium complex. Items worth millions of naira have been stolen and vandalized in the last four months at the state's sports edifice. In a statement jointly signed by the association's Chairman, Ayodeji Ismail and Assist Secretary, Sodiq Adebara, said the porous state of security in the stadium made it possible for some burglars to gain access to shops in the complex which one of them is owned  by a FIFA Accredited Photojournalist, Abdul Momoh. The thieves burgled Abdul Momoh shop, destroying some of his properties worth millions of Naira and studio light, speed light and standing fan were carted away, statement says. The final of the championship, which is at the instance of the Ilorin Emirate Durbar Committee, will kick off by 3:pm at the pitch of the Kwara Football Academy. The tournament is part of the activities lined up to herald this year's Ilorin Emirate Grand Durbar scheduled for Thursday. According a member of the organizing committee, Mallam Nurudeen Ibrahim, the football championship featured football clubs of traditional chiefs and District Heads within the Ilorin Emirate. Ibrahim, who is also the National Publicity Secretary of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) urged the citizens of the Ilorin Emirate to troop out to the Stadium Complex for the finals of the football tournament.

Oyo, Delta Emerge BetKing 3x3 WheelChair Basketball Nat'l Champions

  Oyo and Delta states’ men and women have emerged champions of the 2023 BetKing 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball National Championship which was held at the outdoor Sports Hall of Alake Sports Centre in Abeokuta, Ogun state. Oyo state defeated Lagos state 10-1 to lift the trophy in the men's category while Delta state defeated Oyo state 3-2 to win the women's category. Osun state came down from three points to beat Abuja 7-5 to seal third position in the men's category while Imo state pummeled Kwara state 5-1 to settle for third position in the women's category.   Embattled Head Coach, Kwara Athletics Association, KAA, Adeniyi Awe, has explained that disgraced former head coach of the association, Hammeed Muritala, deceived him into joining Kwara's athletics contingent to Benin for the AFN Golden League, saying he regrets the entire outcome of the saga. Speaking to journalists in Ilorin on Monday, Awe said he only allowed the banned coach to join them in the bus after he pleaded that he needed to be in Benin for further hearing on his case. Coach Muri, as he is popularly called, is currently serving a 10 year ban from Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, after admitting to have force fed a youth athlete with banned substance two years ago in Ilorin.   The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), has pointedly accused Bola Mogaji, chairman, Kwara State Sports Commission, KSC, of sheer negligence, weak oversight capacity which both led to the indefinite ban of the state from athletics activities in the country on Saturday . AFN, in a news release, said that Kwara State Athletics Association, Kwara AA, is banned from all athletics activities in the country, following its association with banned athletics coach Hammid Muritala. The sanction carries severe implications from Kwara State as almost an entire generation of sports men and women may never have opportunities of making it big in athletics.   Kwara State's Under 15 and Under 12 handball teams are set for an international tourney in Sweden, but may require funding and sponsorship from the state government whose teams beat other states in Sokoto to qualify for the tournament in July. The handball competition, Partille Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden is an annual championship which the teams' chief coach believes would give needed exposures to the young players. "I can tell you that these teams I have good players that could get better deals abroad if properly exposed," explained Emeka Joseph Nnamani, Chief Coach, National Under 18 handball team.   The Dickalo U 17 Football Competition kicked off on Friday in Ilorin with two matches decided at  the Kwara Football Academy Pitch. Performing the ceremonial kick off, the founder of Dickalo Football Academy and CEO Dickalo Nigeria Limited, Architect Olubunmi Komolafe Dickalo said the tournament is solely aimed at scouting for talents from the grassroots for onward transferring to Dickalo Academy. Boat Mishap: Usman Danjuma Sympathizes with Patigi Emirate

According the report, the boat was said to have conveyed about 250 passengers from Gboti village through Patigi to Ebu village and Dzakan village, all within Patigi Local Government area after a wedding ceremony. Kwara FA election: PFAN insists on voting, says restraining order stays

  Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), Kwara State chapter, have insisted that a recent court retraining the Kwara Football Association be respected and that it's right to vote as critical stakeholders in the round leather game be respected.
