2023 NYG :Road Cycling Event Produces First Medal for Kwara Athletes

  The duo of Gbenga Ayomide and Atanda Hikmat have won Silver for Kwara state in male 60km and 40km of the cycling road event at the ongoing 7th National Youth Games in Asaba . The Medals came barely twenty four hours after the official opening ceremony of the championship. Kwara leader of the delegation who doubles as the executive chairman of the Kwara sports commission, Mallam Bolakale Adisa Magaji had earlier promised to surpass records of the previous editions and the athletes are working towards achieving the target.

NYG 2023: Bayelsa Not In Asaba Strictly For Medal Haul-- Igali

  President, wresting Federation of Nigeria, Hon Daniel Igali, says the Balyelsa State Contingent at the ongoing 7th National Youth Games, NYG, in Asaba is not mainly to win medals for the state, but to haunt for more talented athletes that will replace for aging ones in the international championship.  Hon Daniel Igali who is also the Balyesa state Commissioner for Sports, revealed that mounting pressure on officials and athletes to win by all cost may lead to doping and other ills in sports . Igali charged state Governors across the Country to genuinely invest in sports programs and policies  to further stem the ugly trend of social vices in the country. He expressed dismay over non budget provision for wresting Federation, despite positive impression in the World major competitions, believing that appropriate budgeting for Federations will enhance their performance.

Best NYG Athletes To Represent Nigeria At Commonwealth Games

  President, Aquatic Federation of Nigeria, Mrs Chinoye Aliyu, has disclosed that the best athletes at the 7th Youth Games holding in Asaba would represent the country at the Commonwealth Youth Games, in Trinidad and Tobago. Mrs Chinoye, a member of the MOC revealed that Delta is prepared to host a hitch free youth games with effective and efficient preparations. She also noted that this year's games offered opportunity to rewrite the history of Nigeria sports in the Commonwealth, former British colony countries, which will hold in the Caribbean country between 4th to 11th August 2024.  "We are here for every sports. Kwara FA Pushes To Have Ilorin Host AFCON 2025 Matches

Abdullahi Musa Idris, aka Thuraya, Chairman, Kwara State Football Association, FA, has revealed that a strong lobby has since been underway to have Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin, slated as one of the stadias to host the 2025 edition of the African Cup of Nations, AFCON.  Thuraya made this disclosure as part of a regular media update on football affairs on the activities of the FA in relation to soccer administration in Kwara State.
