800 Athletes,Coaches and Officials to Participate in 2nd Gov Diri National Wrestling Classics

  Over seven hundred and fifty athletes and coaches from thirty states in Nigeria will jostle for glory in the 2nd Governor Diri wrestling classics in Yenagoa the Bayelsa State capital. President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation Chief Daniel Igali gave the hint at a press conference held in Yenagoa ahead of the championship. He said the championship would commence from 4th to 10th of August, 2023, teams would arrive on the 4th, 5th for accreditation of athletes and officials, while the event will officially start from 6th to 10th of August. The commissioner explained that about 800 athletes, coaches and officials from thirty states and twenty clubs are expected for the fiesta, noting that the military and Para military would also participate in the competition.   Nigeria women's beach volleyball team have emerged Champions of Zone III at the just concluded Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifiers in Cotonou, Benin Republic. Nigeria defeated Ghana 2-0 (21-15, 21-18) in an epic women's final played on Sunday.   Point of Sales, PoS, operators in Kwara State under its registered umbrella body, Kwara Association of Professional Point of Sale Agents, KWAPPSA, have pegged transaction costs for various money related services at not more than N250 per N10, 000 transaction. Explaining this resolve in a press release attached with a list of its new transaction costs and signed by its president, Mr Ridwan Opakunle, the operators stated that the move was in deferens to the appeal of the state governor and Chairman of the Nigerian Governor's Forum, NGF, Mall.    Kwara state Sports Commission has appointed Mr. Wale Obalola as Acting Secretary of Kwara  United Football Club till a substantive board is put in place for Club  This action became necessary following the dissolution of the Club's management board by the government and with the 2023/ 2024 NPFL season drawing closer. With this appointment, Mr Obalola will take charge of running of the Club till a substantive board is put in by the state government. All relevant stakeholders in the state are therefore implored to give the Acting Secretary  the needed  support in the  task ahead. Barely few weeks to the start of the new NPL season, who takes charge of this team, players' recruitment and camping? Knowing fully that this team had a poor outing last season and only escaped relegation by a stroke of luck, putting them into this shambolic situation shouldn't have happened. We heard that the running of the club is now in the hands of  the Kwara State Sports Comission but well I have reservations that this can bring out results. Apart from the problem of playing all their home games away from home last season, here is another issue already created for our darling club.    Nigeria defeated Ghana to lift the women’s trophy at the ongoing 2023 African U21 Nations Volleyball Championship Zone 3 in Niamey, Niger Republic on Sunday. Team Nigeria went through the entire tournament without dropping a single set to be crowned champions while beating Ghana twice in the mix.
